There are some movies that leave an indelible impression. Sometimes in April was “ one of those” movies. I found, at times, I couldn’t breathe. My heart was beating fast and it filled with sorrow. We only recently saw this film, although it was released in 2005. A historical drama about the Rwandan Genocide of 1994. Written and directed by Raoul Peck. Actor Idris Elba portrays his character Augustin Muganza with conviction. Gut-wrenching film about the circumstances leading up to the brutal violence of hundreds of thousands of lives taken by Genocide. Culminating with those trying to find justice and reconciliation.
This movie had a huge impact on me. How we have filtering of news, in the movie they showed ,”other current news” that was making headlines.
As individuals, as a community, and as a nation. We need to take a stand. Silent no more.
